WK 9 - NOVEMBER 18TH 2013

Our learning week beginning Monday 18th November 2013

This week Louise has continued working on the MEP maths unit of Trigonometry. She has been working through the set exercises and has made good progress and completed the unit with very good results.

In English she has been producing an information leaflet on the topic of "Young Carers" and the way in which there is support available from different charities.

In Geography and history Louise is still working on the topics of urban environments and the changes in medicine 1845 - 1945.

This week Katie and Lily have been travelling around all the different memorials on the Fylde Coast. They have recorded information about the memorials such as what are they for?, what are made of?, what they are like and many other questions I have set them. (this has mainly been for Katie to do the research and Lily has drawn pictures) taken photos. This has taken up most of the week and we have done some maths work from their booklets.

Next week Katie will put the information together to make a lapbook about the Memorials of the Fylde Coast.

All clubs and activities have been attended as usual this week

This week Katie has been using her research she gathered last week to produce articles about Remembrance Day. She has produced a display poster and work to go into a lapbook. After our weeks break next week she will be travelling around the Fylde Coast carrying out research on the different War Memorials there are.

Lily has continued using the maths and English work books. Lily again has worked really well and always looks forward to doing her work. She has also completed a poster about the fireworks she saw.

All groups and clubs were on again this week so they have all enjoyed their
non academic activities

Another good week and the girls are looking forward to their holiday next week.

WK 7 - OCTOBER 28TH 2013

Our learning week beginning Monday 28th October 2013

Louise has this week started on the MEP maths unit of Trigonometry. She has been working through the set exercises and has needed a lot of one to one input as this is new to her and I have obviously need to discuss the topic with her and show her how to achieve the right results. Even though this a new unit she has made good progress.

In English the reading of Romeo and Juliet has been come to an end. She is now concentrating on completing her character analysis and answering the questions in the work booklet.

Geography is a continuation on Urban Environments and in History she is continuing working on the unit Changes in medicine 1845 - 1945.

Katie has continued with her numeracy and literacy work. Numeracy this week was concentrated mainly on fractions.

Literacy has seen Katie produce some excellent descriptive articles about the topic of "A night in a haunted house". She has enjoyed this type of writing and has managed to scare us!!!

In History Katie has been researching the topic of Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday. This research will be used next week when she will spend  the week completing work on the topic of Remembrance.

Lily has been using her maths and English books and is continuing to work through the topics and grasp an understanding of the methods involved with the minimal of input needed. She has wanted to do this work most of the week so no other subjects were done this week.

There have been no clubs for the girls this week as all clubs are closed with the schools being on half term.

MESSY CHURCH SATURDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2013

This month was a little bit different at Messy Church. As well as having all the usual fun and games along with the religious parts there was a firework display with hot dogs and burgers. A great time was had by Katie, Lily and their friends.
