Cup cake girls

A piece of cake!

Baking at Grandma's

Saturday 23rd February 2013

Katie and Lily decorated a batch of cupcakes that Grandma had baked with them. They used chocolate icing and butter cream and sugar sprinkles as well.

Katie is doing a mixture of chocolate and butter cream on her cakes

Now it is sprinkle time....how much mess can they make!

Now we have the finished cakes.....they look good enough to eat

And that is just what they did.

A great time was had by all and it was a great learning exercise also. These cookery lessons will be a regular part of our new teaching plan and we all look to forward to great things to come to keep us nicely filled up.

 Well done girls!

And we are off!

Homeschooling all three girls........

Our Journey Begins

Saturday 23rd February 2013

We started the process of homeschooling with a session in the great outdoors, even though there was snow beginning to fall. Lily and Katie had been looking forward to start  pulling on their wellies and getting stuck into the mucky stuff and planting their seeds for the forth coming growing season. So they dragged Ray out into the garden to get going.

Lily (bending). Katie laboring and Ray keeping them both on the right track

They started by getting all the compost from the compost heap to fill up all the pots, borders and planters ready to receive the bulbs and seeds.

When all the compost was in the right place the job of planting began.

They planted:

seed potatoes

sweet peas,

garlic,

tending to the daffodils

and plenty of watering!

Hopefully the hard work will result in a bumper crop later in the year. Great fun was had and they look forward to tending to these and doing lots more planting as we move further into spring and summer.
